Cross 2r Racing Team
Team Cross 2R is internationally known for the professionalism and enthusiasm with which it has always participated and conquered podiums all over the world.
A 100% Italian team that loves to work with seriousness and who wants to share the values of brands that support young people and who are looking for a space in the off-road motorcycle sector.
Team Cross 2R was born in the early 70s.
Initially, the team is affiliated to two prestigious brands of off-road motorcycles such as KTM and Villa participating in minor motocross championships.
Afterwards, Team Cross 2R began a collaboration with Claudio Castiglioni’s CAGIVA group, based in Schiranna, Varese, with whom he took part in the major Motocross championships, first representing the Cagiva colors and then, with the purchase of the Husqvarna brand by of Castiglioni, those of the former Swedish House. With these premises, the Cross 2R team is dedicated to cross-country sporting activities, achieving splendid results.
Towards the end of the 1990, the discipline called Supermotard also made its way into Europe, created to combine the speed of the track with the spectacular motocross.
The team immediately began testing this new category initially with former cross-country pilots participating in minor events, but soon the experience strengthens the team and in 2000 the first important results for the team arrive, with the eighth place in the Italian Supermoto Championship with Max Verderosa, winner of the Husqvarna trophy the previous year and third of the Italian riders.
After the “trial period”, the Supermotard gains popularity and so is Team Cross 2R. In 2001 the first foreign pilot arrives: the Belgian Eddy Seel.
Eddy takes part in the Italian Championship winning all the races and finishing his first season on the podium as Italian champion of the Prestige class. The result obtained strengthens the Team and the staff, so much so that they made their debut in the World Supermoto Championship in 2002 always with Seel and with the addition of the young Italian Davide Gozzini and the French Ludivine Puy.
The organization and the results of the Team are rewarded in 2003, when Husqvarna – which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the brand – delivers to Team Cross 2R the total management of the Factory Supermoto Team, including the official mechanics, drivers and motorcycles.
The team takes seriously the important task, bringing home the world title with Eddy Seel at the end of the season.
Husqvarna decides to be a permanent presence in the supermoto world championship, which is becoming more and more attractive for the public and for the motorcycle brands that rival the track and the market.
While 2004 proves to be a dull year in terms of results, 2005 is a historic year for the team and the parent company, thanks to the expansion of the classes and drivers. The team is found with four drivers to support, two of which are graduated world champions of their respective classes at the end of the season. Eddy Seel takes home the title in the S2 class, while compatriot Gerald Delepine, from cross-country scenes, wins the S1 class.
In 2006, the Team takes a breather, participating in the Supermoto races with the pilot Lorenzo Mariani, while in 2007 Honda France approaches Cross 2R to propose an agreement to bring the Honda brand on the tracks of the supermoto world, with two young drivers French Sylvain Bidart and Kevin Berthomé.
The team completes the commitment made with Honda and then returns with Husqvarna, always with the drivers Bidart and Berthomé.
So in 2008, in addition to participation in the French championship, the team returns to be the protagonist in the supermoto world, finishing the fifth and sixth place in the sporting year.
In 2009, Husqvarna assigned the rider Gerald Delepine to the team, finishing second in his last international and general competition.
While the team engages in the motard, the desire to return to cross-country scenes is reborn, so the team also debuts in the MX2 European Championship with the young Slovenian rider Jernej Irt.
The young and talented driver immediately brings the attention of the spectators and the operators of the sector on him and on the team and, thanks to the excellent results obtained at the end of the season, Team Cross 2R returns to work at full capacity with Husqvarna in 2010, participating at the MX3 World Championship with Alex Salvini, at the MX2 European Championship with Jernej Irt and Andrea Cervellin, and at the 125 European Championship, organized within the MX1-2 Motocross World Championship in which international drivers like Tony Cairoli, David Philippaerts and Gautier participate Paulin and receives media coverage in both industry and extra-sector and television magazines.
The Team is expanding, bringing its team to be complete and fully efficient to meet all the commitments of the season.
Much attention is focused on the world championship motocross and so the Husqvarna brand decides to re-launch after 10 years of rest from world races, back with two riders and a new bike in the MX2 class.
The Cross2r Racing team, from the year 2012 has decided to take a break from racing, to prepare for other challenges.
